Introducing The Linkin Park Association Wiki!

After nearly a month of hard work, and brainstorming between The Linkin Park Association and the Linkin Park fan community, we here at The LPA are happy to unveil a new and ambitious project that we hope will bring the fans together and provide information to the fans like never before.

Presenting:
The Linkin Park Wiki
(powered by lpassociation.com!)

What Is A Wiki?
A wiki ( /ˈwɪki/ WIK-ee) is a website that allows the easy creation and editing of any number of interlinked web pages via a web browser using a simplified markup language or a WYSIWYG text editor. Wikis are typically powered by wiki software and are often used to create collaborative wiki websites, to power community websites, for personal note taking, in corporate intranets, and in knowledge management systems.

How Does It Work?
Much like with the online encyclopedia website Wikipedia, The Linkin Park Wiki stands as way for fans to write/create articles on topics of interest that pertain to the band Linkin Park, and to serve as a database of information and to provide a one-stop resource for knowledge on the band and all of their related releases, projects or side endeavors.

Although the wiki has just launched and thus is still in it's infant stages, we are encouraging fans to contribute to the Wiki in the hopes that this Wiki can grow dramatically in a years time, and eventually become the premier source of Linkin Park related knowledge and information. Similar sites such as the NINWiki have several thousand articles already written, and with a fanbase as large as Linkin Park's we know it is possible for this Wiki to truly grow and flourish with the proper care.

How Can I Contribute?
Easy! Currently there are many articles that need to be written, and we are depending on the fanbase to help us in that regard. Even if you are not good at writing/English, but are well knowledged in Wikitext and markup, you can help us by ensuring all of our pages are probably "potholed" (i.e. links/references in the right place) and formatted in the proper fashion.

To see a sample list of pages that need to be edited, please go here. Any red link can be clicked to create a new article for that link, and if you don't see your article but would like to create it simply put http://wiki.lpassociation.com/index.php/NAMEOFARTICLE with the title of the wiki page taking the place of "NAMEOFARTICLE" in the url line. Any pages that currently are not linked to via other articles, may be posted in the main page's "Discussion" page, where our admins/helpers will go through them and make sure they are categorized/linked to their proper articles.

Speaking of, we can also use help in creating category pages and helping the Wiki page become more organized.

How Do I Edit?
Our very own forum member KATHYxx has been kind enough to create a guide to wiki editing at the following url: http://wiki.lpassociation.com/index....ing_Cheatsheet . Those who would like to create an article, but are not aware of how to format articles, can learn via the above link, and we suggest opening that link in another tab so you may glance at it during article editing for ease of use. Lastly you may upload images for the articles you create via the "Upload File" link to the left of the menu.

Closing Comments
We hope that fans will react favorably to this new concept, and will be proactive in helping to keep this wiki not only frequently updated, but full of information as well.

Please feel free to comment to this news post with your suggestions, questions, or updates to the Wiki as you make them. We appreciate your support and we would like to thank our forum members for helping build the site before it became live. Thanks everyone! javascript:void(0)
